After an overnight stopover near the border, we crossed into Belize. We hadn’t realised we needed $45USD or 700 pesos to leave Mexico. I gathered all our pesos together and managed to find 700. So I paid with that and Lionel paid in dollars.

We took a water “taxi” to Caye Caulker. It carried over 100 people…and took an hour, I think we’d call it a ferry!

There are not many cars, taxis are various sized golf carts, and there are lots of bikes. The island lies within the second biggest barrier reef in the world (after ours of course). We snorkeled in Hol Chan Marine Park, a huge variety of brightly coloured fish, then with lots of Nurse sharks, and finally in a coral garden that had the brightest purple coral I’ve ever seen. The crew started offering rum punch with lunch, and by the time we got back to the dock, I felt a bit worse for wear!

We had some very sunburnt people who felt worse the following day!

There was a small seahorse sanctuary where we stared into the seaweed covered net for quite a while before we spotted one. Oh, and a moray eel as well as stingrays and brown pelicans.
Finally watching the sun go down, a lovely way to end the day.

Looks amazing Chris. The colour of the water 🥰

Surprise exit tax was a good way to get rid of your pesos! The water looks beautiful. Nice sunset shots. 👍
