After we left Caye Caulker we caught a public bus. It was a bit chaotic! Overflowing with passengers and I had the seat above the wheel. It was hot and smoky, and although we were only on it for a few hours, we were drained by the time we arrived across country in San Ignacio.

What a welcome sight the large pool at the Midas Hotel was! Not much to report about this town, we went for dinner and the next day I was sick! So instead of exploring, we basically stayed by the pool and in the room resting. Feeling much better 24 hours later…

Thought I’d add a map of the journey too.

Love the map. Looks like you’re about half way! No fun being crook while travelling. Hope you’ve bounced back OK. Like the sign with reminder to check your pistol before entering the restaurant! Street market looks nice and clean. Love the colour scheme of the Midas Hotel. Next stop Tikal National Park.

That pistol sign is in lots of places! Yes, I’m recovered, just need a quiet day doing very little. We watched a lot of nature programs on YouTube…exciting!

Thanks for the map – it helps to follow your journey. Are you on a guided tour or travelling by yourselves now?

We’re on a tour all the way to Costa Rica. It would have been very difficult to get by on our own. All the countries except Belize are mainly Spanish speaking!

Interesting. The map is great as I’ve no knowledge of this region. Oh, Chris I hope you don’t get sick again. Terrible being unwell while trying to sight see. Loving the colours and the pictures that are great.

I’ve been so lucky in the past! I remember how unwell you were in Bhutan, this wasn’t nearly as bad! We’re in a lovely cool highland town now, and the weather is much better.
