After we left Cairo, we caught a sleeper train to Aswan. This was the starting point for a three day cruise along the Nile. There are hundreds of cruise boats, all owned by a few businessman. We were on board the Radamis and it was fantastic. The food, accommodation and facilities were impressive.

Watching the world pass by while sitting in the comfort of a very comfortable room or up on the top deck sipping a G & T is an experience we will never forget.

Along the way, men in small rowboats would pull alongside and throw their goods up onto the deck for inspection. Customers would then throw the money back down to them. They would squeeze their rowboats into what looked like very precarious positions between two large cruisers. It seemed like madness, but it worked for them!

Each day we would head out to various locations to view ancient sites, and then in the evenings return to a fabulous array of dishes.

Just watching people along the river carrying on with their lives as they have done for thousands of years was very special.

Fantastic! Great stopping off at all the sights down the river. Your boat seems pretty impressive. π

Ha, no but our American travelling companion bought a towel. That was after we told her not to pay $45US! One tablecloth the guy threw up landed in the water as we were going through the first lock. He had a jag hook and fished it out. No problem!

He was amazing! The cruise was fab. Even though there were hundreds of boats plying the river, it still felt like we were the only ones.
