Yesterday we caught the bus back across the island (2Euros per person each way) The journey is well worth the very reasonable price!
This town is where most of the ferries from Piraeus arrive and it is bustling with tourists. It also has a huge marina and there are yachts from all over the world moored here.

We spent some time walking around the piers looking at the fish and then took to the back streets and wandered along the narrow alleys, continuously on the lookout for motorbikes zooming past.

Many day-trippers arrive from Athens. There are wall to wall cafes along the main street. I cannot imagine how crowded this will be in a few weeks time when it is Summer.

Such an interesting array of people. Lots of youngsters in their short shorts and black or white tops. Almost like a uniform! But also lots of older people, hobbling along with walking sticks and carefully negotiating the uneven cobblestones!

We stopped for a Mythos and a snack. The menu said meze plate, which I assumed would be dips, bread and olives. Oh no! It was fried fish and prawns! Thankfully, dinner back at Agia Marina was delicious Moussaka and local wine. Well, you have to try these things!

Some of the houses along the way reminded me so much of Marrickville, our first home in Sydney, which was a very Greek suburb when we lived there!

That water! Those flowers! But most of all, the whitebait!!! My favourite. I can almost taste them….yum.

Haha! I wish you had been with us to eat them! I did my best, but not really my favourite thing! Plenty of bakeries here, reminding us of you and Chris. xxx

So interesting Chris. Must be so different when the day trippers leave. How many nights are you staying?
