This beautiful seaside town ticks a lot of boxes. It has a harbour, a beach, pathways, ancient buildings, museums and wonderful narrow streets full of knick-knacks and cafes.

We’ve spent four days here, just wandering around, swimming with the locals, sitting on our little balcony and taking in the lovely ambience of the old town. It’s a very popular place. Lots of tourist groups, and the day we arrived there was a huge cruise ship anchored off shore.

Walking up and down the weathered steps has been a good workout. Sitting looking across the town at Palamidi Fortress has not encouraged us to climb up to the top!

The biggest decision has been where to go for dinner. Many places cater to the tourists with burgers, pizza etc. But we have searched for more authentic Greek food and it has all been so fresh and delicious.

The bougainvilleas and geraniums are in flower, and frame a lot of the buildings. I love the old shutters and French windows. We are staying in a traditional old house and it has been fantastic.

Wow, all the blues….especially in the ocean snaps!

How beautiful. Looks idyllic, Chris! How’s the language barrier going??Sent from my iPhone

No language issues Deb, most people especially in tourist areas speak very good English. Menus ( most important!) are in English and Greek.

Looks fabulous Chris! Those blues! I can see one of those evil eye hangings in your house. Those pebbles gave me bruises on the bottom of my feet when we were in Cinque Terre. No carefree running in for a swim!

Even leaving shoes only a couple of metres from the shore is painful walking…then it’s shallow with rocks for a while before I can glide in! The water is still fresh.

Looks beautiful! Lucky you’re there, the weather is atrocious here. We are getting flooded at the moment. We had to evacuate to higher ground. Keep enjoying that gorgeous place.

How worrying for you Lesley, hope the weather calms down soon. Looks like there will be a lot to clean up around Taree when the waters subside.

It has been four very relaxing days, although climbing the slippery stairs has been a challenge at times! We leave for Crete tonight, Lionel was there 47 years ago!
