Four hours on the bus, past lots of productive farms and rustic villages, we finally arrived at our last destination. Barcelona is pumping! We walked for about half an hour from the North bus station along streets teeming with people…and sidewalk cafes. The main streets are wide and shady. Plenty of shrubbery and parks.
Catalunya Plaza is a fabulous place to sit and watch people. There are thousands of pigeons, people feed them and take pictures amongst them. We sat on the park bench and kept our hats on!
We are staying in Las Ramblas which is a very busy tourist area. It is full of places to eat, drink and be merry! Wine, beer and gin in the supermarket are all quite cheap, so sitting on our little balcony is a very amusing form of entertainment!
We spent our first two days riding the hop on hop off Bus Turistic. It gave us a fabulous overview of the city, I love the shutters, balconies and wrought iron on the buildings.
Choosing where to eat is a pleasant dilemma. We have had some delicious melt in your mouth type meals, but I’m looking forward to some big servings of fruit and vegetables when we get home.
The one and a half hour guided walk I did through Barcelona was one of the bet things I’ve done travelling. The cost was a donation.
