Rio Dulce

Rio Dulce is a large river that flows down to Livingston on the Caribbean Coast. We took a boat ride down the river, and I was quite surprised by the number of yachts moored along the shoreline. Evidently this is a safe area to shelter from hurricanes!

There were so many birds to see along the way, we also saw a large iguana hanging onto a branch (very well camouflaged).

We stayed in a shack over the water, and walked along the raised path to the pool, toilets and restaurant. Quite a feat late at night!

Not the place to swim due to the crocodiles! We didn’t see any but were assured they were there!

There were a lot of Yachties moored at this hotel, using the facilities and swapping stories about their various destinations. I don’t think I’d like it myself!

  1. Note to self: Don’t have too many drinks at dinner or risk falling off the walkway! Shame about the crocs. Similar to Queensland. More great pics, 👍

    • The hotel looked almost deserted! Not surprising! Interesting is a good word! It was very basic, but surprisingly comfortable…I was a bit worried about the mozzies but they left us alone. 😜
