It’s starting to feel a little bit like…” What day is it? Which country are we in?”

The colonial houses are brightly painted, there are cafes, bakeries and bars everywhere. We found a fabulous vegetarian restaurant and enjoyed a couple of meals there. It’s still very hot, the rainy season should have begun…still waiting! Thank goodness the hotel had a pool!

Leon is a city overflowing with history. The city square is surrounded by murals and posters of famous people who have fought for freedom in various struggles. Despite years of very tough times, the people are welcoming and very friendly.
Lionel went off with some of the group and climbed a volcano, then slid down on a board! I opted for the beautiful art gallery in town. Housed in three old buildings, there were artworks by Picasso, Warhol, Mondrian and many others. (See christinas.craft.odyssey on instagram)

In the afternoon we did a tour of the mangroves, viewing many birds, a crocodile, crabs, iguanas and a raccoon! (Totally unexpected)

We ended our day at the beach watching people learning to surf, holidays can be exhausting!

Love the murals although some painful history there. Very interesting Chris.

Lionel’s volcano climb & slide sounds great. I think Nicaragua has had a troubled political past! You’re own the home stretch now. Enjoy.
