Tokyo #2

Yesterday we headed out with Steve and Maryanne to explore the city by public transport. We couldn’t purchase Suica cards. There is a shortage of micro chips! We don’t use the phone wallet, so had to resort to buying actual tickets! Challenge number 1. 🥴

We headed for Asakusa and wandered around the heavily congested tourist area. The pagoda and shrine were exquisite, Maryanne and I walked to the Edo Taito Craft Centre and then found the boys in the labyrinth of streets nearby.

We wandered down to the river and walked along for a while, then onto another train bound for Shibuya, the famous crossing.

We decided to catch a bus to Shinagawa, as it’s like a mini tour of the city rather than underground on the train. People are so helpful! A young woman suggested to us we catch a taxi to Happo-En gardens and so we did.

Back on another train to Omorikaigan, our stop. A few drinks bought from the 7/11, then dinner at Yakitori Bifuku. Chicken hearts, poke’s nose, mince, breast and chilli’s on delicate sticks and some Asahi to wash it down. The menu was not an easy translate, so we went with whatever the waiter suggested!

  1. Love the golden poo! We stayed near there and have a million shots of it from different angles. Didn’t know about the craft centre. Bugger. Gorgeous gardens! Its crazy that you can be in the middle of crazy Tokyo yet there are so many peaceful, quiet gardens and temples hidden away.
