Oigawa Railway

Yesterday we rode the old railway line through the mountains and forest, high above the river in a very small train. It was a great little journey. Sadly many photos were deleted due to bad camera settings, but the journey was a lot of fun and reminded us of previous trips through Sri Lanka and India.

It’s still very warm, although it’s Autumn ( around 32 degrees) so the forests are still very green and there’s little evidence of trees changing colour.

There are lots of references to Thomas the Tank Engine, and a few engines even carry the facade.

There was also a museum ( 100¥ entry) which had lots of interesting posters. Great place to escape the heat!

We also visited the lookout, which was spectacular and gave us a great view of where we had travelled on the train.

    • No sign of any other Thomas characters… and the views were amazing. The little train chugged through the mountain, the moss covered rocks and forest floor were very green (the photos were blurry so no proof!)
