On the way to Osaka

We’re starting to feel a bit weary! It has been so hot throughout our time here, and it’s beginning to wear us out!

We visited this beautiful wooden bridge at Kintaikyo. It was so hot we just wanted to find a place to sit and cool off. There were lovely gardens nearby, and I spied a pond in the distance. It was perfect for wading in! And it was permissible. 🤩 We had an hour there and it was absolute bliss.

We spent the rest of the day at Canal City Shopping Centre. Wow! What a huge complex. We felt like we were walking around in circles, up and down lifts, in and out of aircon and through the same mega stores more than once. It was amazing. So much (unnecessary stuff) that in the 21st Century people just have to have! Haha. I did love the Character shops that sold very detailed models from various Japanese TV shows, but there were thousands of them!

We caught the overnight ferry at 5pm. It was massive. We volunteered to have the deluxe rooms (without toilets attached) instead of suites as a number of the people on our tour complained that they had paid for suites and that’s what they expected! (PS Some people need to have something to whinge about!) Well we were very happy in deluxe! It was a far cry from a beach towel laid on the deck to reserve a spot on an overnight ferry to Goa years ago!

We are now in Osaka for three nights and then homeward bound. Still a few things to see and do, but we will be going at a much more relaxed pace. With a beer or two along the way to keep our strength up!
