I think I first set eyes on the Pyramids when my Grandfather showed me a sketch in a magazine back in the sixties. So it has been a long, long wait to view them in person. But earlier this week that’s what we finally did! Before that, we visited the new Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) close by. An excellent place to learn about this famous archaeological site!

Our first glimpse of the Pyramids was from a taxi on the way to our hotel. They are located on the outskirts of Cairo, close to a whole lot of apartment buildings and a new freeway, but it doesn’t matter! They are magical.

…. And, they’re so handy to the centre of town!!! 🤪

We had a 40 minute taxi ride from the centre of town out to Giza, there’s a lot of construction going on around the outskirts. Not surprising with there being 25 million people in Cairo!

I didn’t realise they were so close to town either. Still hoping to get there.

You definitely should! April is a good time, not too hot, and not the high season. I can’t imagine how busy it would be in November/December.
