Today being our last full day in Egypt we took it fairly slow. We walked to The Royal Jewellery Museum and browsed the collection located in an old palace. The decorations were very European and the stained glass panels looked quite out of place. But it was probably fashionable at the time.

The Royal bathroom was something else! So decorative, we had to wear plastic socks over our shoes while we were in the palace.

There were some fabulous mosaics in the streets nearby. Lionel waited patiently while I inspected them all.

We walked along the very uneven pavement to Stanley Bridge. A beach complete with what we thought were changing rooms had been constructed between the two busy roads full of traffic.

People wait on the road for the mini-buses, as the cars and motorbikes zoom past. There are lights to cross every now and then, but it’s best to wait a few seconds before crossing as often the cars come to a screeching halt halfway across the pedestrian lines!

Our last stop today was a small craft market. I found the location and directions, but when we got there could find no sign of the art gallery. We must have looked lost, as a young man came along and pointed us in the right direction. It was inside a building, in an apartment. Some lovely colourful pieces and well worth finding it to have a good look.

Tomorrow we are catching the train back to Cairo and then flying to Greece. Egypt has been fabulous, the people have been very warm, welcoming and helpful. We’re so glad we did the tour, it would have been a challenge to do what we did by ourselves.
So pleased Egypt met all your expectations. It was certainly worth the wait to visit.

Did you dip your toes in the water? I would have been tempted by those gorgeous tassel things and the ceramic houses.

No, not even close! It wasn’t very inviting! And yes, I bought a tassel thing!

You should go Maree, but I recommend doing a tour, much less stress!

Oh yes! We’ve just arrived after a very long day…taxi, train, taxi, plane, metro, walk and a Mythos beer to finish the day!

A beer or two would have been the perfect way to end the day
