Guilin, China
Guilin is a relatively small city compared to many in China, only about 830,000 people! There are walkways beside the rivers and lakes, the foreshore is lit at night and it’s all very pretty and relaxing. And hot! Today we went on a tour to the Longji Terraced Rice Fields. they were spectacular and covered the countryside in all directions. It was another hot, sweaty climb up and down the narrow pathways between the villagers homes, but it was worth every step. It’s just amazing to think all of these fields were planted by humans…How many people? How long did it take them? Today we had lunch with people from Brazil, France, New Zealand, Canada, Netherlands and Hong Kong. The most foreigners we have met in one place in China. It was a very interesting and lively conversation, and the food was wonderful too.
