Jakar Teschu

On Monday, our Principal Nidip took us to the Teschu in Jakar. What an amazing event! It was held in the Dzong, in a courtyard surrounded by a verandah. Local people dressed in their finest Kira’s and Ghos. We had our usual one on!

There were masked dancers, cultural groups and a number of “clown” performers to entertain the crowd. The costumes were very colourful and intricately embroidered. The dancing started early in the morning. We watched from 10am until midday when we were invited to lunch with the officials.

The masks were wonderful…trying to get a good pic of moving dancers was a challenge! The pictures can tell the story!
