We were on the waiting list for a flight back to Paro from Jakar. In the end we decided it would be better to drive as we didn’t want to chance missing our outward bound flight on Saturday. Principal Nidup had agreed that Yonten, the school driver would take us back to Paro, and so we set off on Thursday morning for the long drive.

I have been trying to get a decent picture of the mountain trees, they are so different to ours, and I love them.

Paro was a ten hour drive, we stopped along the way for momos, and then made a detour to Punakha to view the Dzong, which is said to be in the best location in Bhutan.

Well it certainly was impressive, and I’m glad we didn’t get the plane! It was definitely worth the long drive!

We finally arrived in Paro around 7:30pm. A quick noodle meal, a small bottle of red (Takin) and I was ready for a good nights sleep.

Our last day in Bhutan today. We spent it shopping, ever the bargain hunter, we moved a street back from the main tourist strip and the prices plummeted! Very happy with my purchases.

Tomorrow we are up at 5am to catch an early morning plane back to Kathmandu, then onto Pokhara and Bandipur to explore a bit more of Nepal before travelling home. It’s been a wonderful month yet again and I am truly grateful to have had the opportunity to have volunteered at Tang Central School, it’s a month of my life I will cherish forever!
