After arriving back in Kathmandu earlier than expected, we had a day to explore the old Newari town of Bhaktapur. This was the Nepal I remembered!
Nabin and his friend Asti drove us to the old city and we spent quite a few hours just watching the action.
One of the first events was a protest by high school students and teachers about India encroaching on their borders. Stirring stuff!
We wandered through back streets, into the potters square and later had lunch in a very old building. The weather was perfect today, there were not many tourists and we even got to meet a Nepali actor!
As usual the hawkers got the better of me and I bought a lovely necklace. I just want to soak up every minute of this place, as I doubt I will return in the future.
A memorable journey’s end 😀 safe travel home
