Lord Howe Island…at last!

March 2021, we’re driving to Sydney with friends to fly to Lord Howe. We’d booked it six months earlier and all ten of us were very excited to be finally flying somewhere! MaryAnne gets a phone call from the travel agent to tell us they have somehow double booked and there are no rooms available on the island! Ahhhh! What can you do?

January 2022, we’ve all isolated ourselves for the past few days to make sure nothing stops us from getting on that plane…we’ll get excited when we take off!

It was well worth the wait, a very special place and so close to home.

We stayed at Oceanview Apartments, one of the original properties. It was perfect for us. Tennis, games room, bbq facilities, transport to dinner and just up the hill from the pier. The view from the hill behind was pretty spectacular too.

Plenty to see and do. Bike riding to Ned’s Beach, bushwalking to Old Gulch, snorkeling around a wreck and seeing turtles

A week on Lord Howe was just the right amount of time to explore and relax. The island limits the number of visitors and so it doesn’t feel crowded or busy. It was fabulous.

Good food, good company, good times!
