I remember studying this place in Art History, back in the seventies. The entire temple was dismantled and reconstructed high above the water line, when the rising waters of Lake Nasser were going to cover it.

What an amazing feat! We left the boat at 3:30am in order to visit this site four hours away. It was well worth the early start!

what an amazing place to visit. Are you on a cruise? Have a great time.

So glad we finally decided to come. No concerns about being close to problems in other countries. The Egyptians are warm, friendly people who go out of their way to help us.

The cruise is amazing, three nights. All we paid extra for were our drinks, which amounted to about $100. So much variety in the food, it was great.

Such an amazing feat to move all those blocks in only 4 years and to reproduce it so well.

Indeed. The documentary at the information centre gave an excellent explanation.

Being there in person to experience those amazing temples would be so beyond anything studied in that art history textbook back in the day!

It was a four hour drive through the desert from the boat to get there, but even Lionel was impressed! The crowds are thick, but it doesn’t matter. You should see some of the tourists dressed as Cleopatra etc taking selfies!

Yes! It seemed so far away when we were back in high school. But I’ve wanted to visit for over 50 year! Finally doing it! Yay.
