Tiger Leaping Gorge

Ninglang County, China

We had read lots about this place, many people spend at least two days trekking through the gorge and villages..and the reviews say it’s hard going! So we were happy to just do a day trip, and hoped that our non English speaking driver would wait for us…we had no idea what to expect, and had spent considerable time discussing details with the hostel manager through iPad translator! About 500 steps took us down to the roaring waters of the gorge…it was spectacular. the force of the water was impressive, and I can’t imagine any whitewater rafts or puffed up goat skins (old movie reference) saving anyone on this stretch of the river! Coming back up the 500 steps was not too bad…there were landings about every 30 or so steps so plenty of time to catch our breath…
