Xizhouzhen, north of Dali

Dali, China

Today we caught a bus to the north of Dali and wandered around Xizhou town. It amazes me how we are managing to get where we want to go with very limited Chinese…like one word written on a piece of paper! Buses are very cheap and usually leave when they are full, it’s a great way of seeing the surrounding areas. It is quite hot walking around, especially amongst the old and renovated buildings…lots of bricks and mortar. There is a lot of construction going on…this morning we were woken by a machine grinding large rocks into gravel for the building next door. The decorations on the whitewashed houses are beautiful, and very intricate. And we had the best bowl of noodle soup today. It was delicious!
