Cirali, Chimaera and Olympos

Kemer, Turkey

Well we finally swam in the Mediterranean. The water is very clear, temperature was perfect, calm sea…no waves, but I needed my sandals to cope with the very pebbly shore! Did I know there wouldn’t be much sand? We are spoilt! Yesterday we walked to the Chimaera…up a mountainside to where fire still burns from crevices in the rocks, it was recommended we visit at night to get the full effect. Thankfully we walked up in daylight and back in the early evening darkness…that was hard enough over the very uneven rocky path. (Not much in the way of a decent photo though!) Today we wandered through the ruins of Olympos…one of many sites that go by the name! It was fabulous, close to the beach and a stream…the ruins were scattered through thick forest and in many places overgrown. Cirali is a small coastal town, but it has it’s fair share of pensions, hotels and cafes. Lots of families wandering about…a great place to relax for a few days.
