Simunye, Swaziland
After a very smooth walk across the checkpoint, we arrived in the Kingdom of Swaziland, for just a couple of days. We are on our tour with 8 Germans, 2 Austrians, 1 Swede and us. It’s fantastic! Today we visited a village, Lionel showed the boys some of his stick tricks and I managed to show the women some dance moves which were well received! We were escorted by a group of young girls, who were very interested in my hairy legs! It was one of the best cultural visits we have ever done, mainly because we didn’t feel we were intruding on anybody’s life. We visited a kraal, tried to grind maize, joined in with some dancing and sadly learnt about the high number of orphans left behind by the HIV/ AIDS epidemic. No electricity at our cabin, or in the whole of the park…I am typing this by the light of a kerosene lamp! Today we went to the local Country club to use the wifi…Lionel had a swim, while the Swede and I quickly checked our mail. Tomorrow, Mozambique, we need visas at the border and hope it doesn’t hold up our group as we are the only ones who couldn’t get visas before we left.
