Dodging desert potholes

Sossusvlei, Namibia

It took about 8 hours to drive to Sossuvlei today. And by the time we arrived the whole truck was coated in dust! Most of the drive was along a dirt road. Hours and hours of sparse, barren vegetation, then suddenly a farm or township would appear (in the middle of nowhere). We stopped at a very small town called Bethanie to buy biltong. Kobus said it was the best he had ever tasted, so we bought some “chilli bites”…very moorish! The landscape varied from very empty, to almost empty! A few Oryx along the way, a number of large weavers nests in the trees, a stunning mountain range and then we arrive at lovely accommodation in the middle of nowhere! A bat eared fox just trotted past our door! Amazing! Why haven’t many Australians mentioned Namibia before?
