Kampala, Uganda
Today marks the end of Ramadan, so the Moslem population in Kampala are all out celebrating in their finery. The women look very glamorous, and the men are immaculate in their white robes. We left Jinja about 8:30am, and arrived in Kampala (80kms away) over two hours later. We stopped at the supermarket, where gin is cheaper than red wine; and at the ATM where 600,000 Ugandan shillings equals approximately $300! It’s now 1:25pm and we are finally moving faster…another big driving afternoon to reach Masindi, near Murchison Falls. After numerous toilet stops and lunch by the side of the road, we reached our accommodation about 5pm. Just enough time for some washing, relaxing with a G&T before dinner at 7pm. Up with the sparrows again tomorrow for a hike to see the chimpanzees ( a prelude to the gorillas), a game drive and a visit to the falls. It’s go, go, go!
