Kabale, Uganda
Today we visited a school, that was started for homeless and orphaned children. The orphanage housed about 180 children, but the school catered for more than three hundred. It had just gathered children in need from neighbouring villages. It was very inspirational! We visited each classroom, from baby to grade seven. The children were amazing, some classes had over forty students. The young teachers were so enthusiastic! They were teaching in English such topics as transport, water, the human body, tools, fractions and grammar! As we entered each class, the children stood and respectfully greeted us. You should have seen the five year olds, learning, spelling and naming parts of the body. Priceless! The whole school then welcomed us with songs, and danced for us. Even the teachers joined in. Such enthusiasm and joy! It was a very special day. I also helped dish out the morning porridge to three hundred and eighty children, all waiting patiently in line from youngest to oldest, all bowing and saying thankyou. I loved it!
