Before we left Tang Central, Tashi and Sonam took us for a drive deeper into the valley. This is where they were first sent as young teachers back in 2005. There was no electricity for three years! Can you imagine? It was only a small school and like ours in Australia, they were responsible for everything!

After a few years they were transferred to Tang Central and have been there for thirteen years. They love it! The trip up the valley was beautiful, so peaceful and idyllic…but also a hard life for the farmers…we were invited to have tea at their friends house. What a resourceful family…they were very self sufficient and still produced most of what they needed.
