Two of our teaching colleagues, Andrea, from Philadelphia and Rilla, from Toronto had flown to Jakar to visit the Mushroom Festival, so we decided to drive out to the valley anyway and have a look around the village.
We also showed them Kiki La Pass which I was happy to visit again.
We stopped at a temple where the gate was locked…probably because there was a huge saw unlocked in the grounds. The monks were having lunch, still we managed to see their work room where they were cutting and winding prayers for the wheels. After the temple we took a path through the village back to the road…we just kept heading downwards…not really sure where we were going!
The drive back to Chamkhar was breathtaking, especially when the mist started covering the mountains.
Such clever workmanship in all the buildings and rock walls. I love all the flags too.
