Lindisfarne (Holy Island)

Back in the seventies there was a band, Lindisfarne, who I really liked. When I was researching our trip and discovered Holy Island, I knew we had to visit. You reach the island across a causeway, only accessible at low tide. It’s a very popular place! There is a small village on the island, but the main reason for us to visit was to see the priory, church and castle. The monks arrived in about 635 AD. The castle was sold in 1901 and restoration began.
